Huawei Ascend P2 hitting Europe in Q2 for 399 euros, we go hands-on

To contact us Click HERE

Just ahead of Huawei's press event, Huawei's treated us to an early viewing of its new 8.4-millimeter smartphone, the Ascend P2. With Android 4.1, a quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 13-megapixel camera and a 720p 4.7-inch Gorilla Glass 2 Infinity Edge Display, it joins the likes of the Ascend Mate and D2 in forming the Chinese manufacturer's smartphone family in 2013. And boy, it's a slender, feather-light phone with a glossy backing that come sin both black and white. Design-wise, like those leaks, it looks an awful lot like its predecessor. Its notable feature is the highest-speed LTE connection seen so far in a smartphone, up to 150Mbps with support for LTE Cat4. We also got to play with Huawei's Emotion UI, which can draw on the 1GB of RAM housed inside. There's plenty of storage, with 16GB inside. The right side houses a volume switch and a physical camera button -- these were a bit plasticky, but has a nice matte finish. The other side is where the power button belongs, with both the headphone and micro-USB charging port found there. Huawei's focusing on battery life here as well, with a 2,420mA unit inside and the promise of consuming 20-percent less power, thanks to the handset's display technology.

With the aforementioned Emotion UI, there's the same clipboard animation across homescreen transitions, matching those other Ascend models. Getting into screen performance, it reflected a fair bit of ambient light, perhaps not the best display we've seen from Huawei -- there seems to be a space between the surface of the glass and the display itself. Light, but feels like we were often unable to keep hold of it. The buttons have the right amount of bite, although it would have been nice to see some premium materials used for these minor details. but the design reminds us a fair bit of the Panasonic's Eluga. Perhaps due to the lack of exotic color options, the phone wasn't quite as appealing as when we first got our hands on its predecessors. We'll have a hands-on video up soon. If you're in Europe you can pick this up in Q2 for €399 ($526)

Pranav Mistry's Sixth Sense to go Open Source - Hurray !!!!!!

To contact us Click HERE

If Pranav Mistry has his way, people around the world can build their own wearable 'SixthSense' --which uses a camera that understands human gestures -- at a cost of less than Rs 15,000 ($300) by obtaining the software he developed for free in the next few months.

Mistry, a PhD student in Pattie Maes' Fluid Interfaces Group at MIT's Media Lab, is the genius behind SixthSense, a wearable device that enables new interactions between the real world and the world of data.

"I notice that it's hard to for these kind of things to market in some sense. . . because I don't want this to comply with some of kind of corporate policy," he told PTI in Mysore on Friday on the sidelines of TED conference being held in India for the first time.

"Rather than waiting for that time to come, I want people to make their own system. Why not?"

"People will be able to make their own hardware. I will give them instructions how to make it. And also provide them key software...give them basic key software layers. . . they will be able to build their own applications. They will be able to modify base level and do anything".

MIT Media Lab’s Pranab Mistry demonstrated the latest version of his Sixth-Sense wearable gesture interface at the TEDIndia conference

on Thursday, where he showed how it could be used to compute using just a piece of paper. Sixthsense was first presented by Mistry at a TED conference in February 2009.

In his latest demo, he attached a microphone to the paper and was able to use it as a touch interface, play 3D games, watch movies, and seamlessly transition work between a PC and his interface.

The demo received a huge round of applause from the audience at TED, but he saved the best for last.”I am trying to make this tech available to people, and I will provide all the open source software for Sixth sense starting next month.” said Pranav Mistry when talking to the host Chris Anderson.

Windows XP Performance Tweaks - Improve Your PC's Performance by Tweaking Windows XP

To contact us Click HERE

Windows XP performance tweaks - Windows XP could be one of the most widely sold versions of Windows and has received a lot of negative feedback during its launch as well. However, a lot of patches have gone along that eventually settled down the users who appear to be hostile at first. Here are some suggested Windows XP performance tweaks that you may want to take a look at to give you a better user experience.

People who are used to AutoPlay get really annoyed when it stops working. This feature actually is one of the few liked by many about this particular OS. How do you correct this in the first place? All you need to do is to go to the Control Panel then Administrative Tools. After this, you need to go to Services and look for the "Shell Hardware Detection" area. All you need to do after this is to set it back to automatic and your friendly feature shall go back to how it used to work.

Another really annoying scenario is when your computer suddenly freezes while starting up. A lot of people are experiencing this problem on the first release of Windows XP. You'll know that you have become a victim of this error as well when your computer suddenly stops at a blue screen after XP loads up and neither the taskbar nor the start button works. If this takes about 2-3 minutes (or longer) of your time in a day, a program called Background Intelligent Transfer may be the culprit behind this mess. The way to correct this is to go to Start, and then Run and type MSCONFIG on the prompt then hit enter. The MSCONFIG window will then show up. Look for the program Background Intelligent Transfer then disable it. After this Windows XP performance tweaks, reboot and your problem should be gone.

Others find shutting XP down such a pain when it actually takes you longer to shut it down than boot it up. One of the most known tweaks that you could do is this: try to go to the Windows Registry by going to the command prompt (Start then Run) and type "regedit" then enter. This should launch the registry. Find the "HKEY CURRENT USER" line then go to Control Panel and Desktop. Find the "AutoendTasks" entry then double-click it. Change the value from 0 to 1. Try rebooting after this Windows XP performance tweaks and it should do the trick.

If you do not want to manually carry out the Windows XP performance tweaks you can easily optimize Windows XP with Reg Cleaners.

Thunderbolt Express Dock preorders being accepted

Belkin has quietly started accepting preorders for its Thunderbolt Express Dock. Originally announced with a September 2012 launch date at last year's CES, the Express Dock has undergone numerous set backs and revisions. The final shipping version will allow customers to expand a single Thunderbolt port into eight different ports, including one FireWire 800, one Gigabit Ethernet, three USB 3.0, one 3.5mm audio-in, one 3.5mm audio out, and one Thunderbolt port. While pre-orders are being accepted online for $300, an official shipping date is still yet to be released.

HBO Go now includes support for AirPlay streaming

HBO's Eric Kessler announced on Tuesday that all HBO subscribers will now be able to stream content from the HBO Go iOS app to any TV via AirPlay. To gain access to AirPlay support, customers must download the latest version of the free HBO Go app from the App Store. The support is limited to devices running iOS 6 and Apple TVs running the v5.1.1 software or later. An official Apple TV app is also in the works, however it is unknown when this will be released.

Tax break used by oil pipeline firms costing government billions

To contact us Click HERE

Congress is looking at eliminating a tax break used by oil and gas pipeline companies after a study showed it costing the government four times more than previously estimated.

The tax break for ?master limited partnerships? will cost the U.S. government $7 billion in lost revenue through 2016, according to the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation. The increased cost is due to the popularity of the tax-free publicly traded partnerships that have taken over the U.S. pipeline business and are now spreading into the rest of the oil and gas industry.

Examples of MLPs in San Antonio include Tesoro Logistics LP and NuStar Energy Partners.

Canada ended a similar tax break in 2011 and there are proposals in Congress to end it in the U.S. for all but renewable energy companies.

MLP?s don?t pay corporate income taxes because they?re structured as partnerships, and they don?t distribute taxable dividends. Individual members pay personal income tax on any profits, offsetting to some extent the government?s loss of revenue.
